Let’s Talk Native Hawaiian Plants

The flora of the Hawaiian islands is a unique assemblage of species with a rich history isolated in the Pacific Ocean. Each species has a fascinating story to tell. There is a sphagnum that maybe a clone of a single spore. There are mints that independently developed traits for bird dispersal and bird pollination. There is an ancient lineage of begonia. From tree ferns to tree lobelias, there are so many things that are interesting about the plants that evolved here. This page will be a collection of the Let’s Talk series as well as an overview of Native Hawaiian Plants.
